Floating on the Dead Sea

Dead Sea, a salt lake

This incredible inland lake, called in Arabic “al-Bahir al-Mayyit”, is located in the striking depression between Jordan, Israel, and the West Bank. But why is it called the Dead Sea? The answer lies in its characteristics: it is one of the saltiest lakes in the world!

Why do you float?

The concentration of mineral salts is so high that almost no form of life can survive in its waters, and it is precisely for this reason that it allows visitors to float effortlessly on the surface of the lake! The best time to visit is in the winter months, between November and February, when the weather remains warm and sunny and the average temperatures are around 20°C.

Nearby destinations

But the magic doesn't end here! During your trip, you can make a stop at Petra, the semi-hidden city in southern Jordan. This fascinating site, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and proclaimed one of the 'New Seven Wonders of the World' in 2007, is a must-see destination. Intriguing traditions, breathtaking places, and miraculous waters await you at the Dead Sea and Petra. So, why wait?
